Welcome

Welcome, and thank you for visiting the website for the Congregation Sons of Jacob Synagogue. Founded in 1896 on Shawmut Street and now located on Douglas Avenue, it is home of the second oldest orthodox Jewish congregation in Rhode Island, the oldest in Providence, and the only synagogue still in use in the historic Smith Hill neighborhood of Providence. The Sons of Jacob Synagogue was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 and continues to persevere after more than 120 years. Please consider visiting the shul and joining us for services anytime, all are welcome!
